"THE PEACE AND JOY OF THE LORD JESUS" The last phase, or "week," reveals the gains that are made through the choice to remain with Jesus and live out Gospel values. As retreatants contemplate scenes of the resurrection, they experience joy through a new awareness of who Jesus Christ is. Recognizing that Jesus Christ is the personal revelation of God's love in the world refashions our perspective on the human condition. Retreatants realize God is truly with them in all of their sorrows and joys. This insight opens them to receive the grace of gratitude with the profound desire to discover God's presence in all of creation. This desire motivates people to go beyond solitude in their interior life to communion with others in the world. Such love of God renews one's commitment to follow in the spirit of Christ to work for his mission and proclaim the Kingdom of God. "...you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: you must love your neighbor as yourself."(Mk 12:30) The Grace that I desire: to be able to enter into the joy and consoling mission of Jesus in His risen life. |
