"THE CONTEMPLATION OF THE KINGDOM OF JESUS CHRIST" To begin this phase is an exercise that invites the retreatant to respond to the call of Christ to work for the coming of God's Kingdom. Here, the retreatant desires companionship with Christ. The focus of the exercises that follow are scenes of Jesus' life that will stir up one's affections. One is called to pay attention to the values of Jesus and the resistance one may feel to the way he lives his life for others. God's choices for us are shown in the choices that Jesus makes. In noticing the values that pervade the life of Jesus, we are transformed as we seek to incorporate these same values in our lives. The Call of Christ“Thanks be to God, who makes us, in Christ, partners of his triumph.... This is the purpose for which God made us, and he has given us the pledge of the Spirit.” (2 Cor 2:14; 5:10)
